👓 A Ray-Ban Man: Three Generations of Aviators - From Abbu's Gift to My Kid's Tradition and the Iconic Aviators
I have never been a slave to fashion, but I have always had my own style going on!
Abbu's gift of gold-framed Ray-Ban Aviators alongside my first motorcycle in 1988 sparked a lifelong personal style, now beautifully carried forward by my own children.
Ray-Ban was always a defining brand for me. Ever since I was a child, I had always dreamed of owning an authentic pair. As a thoughtful parent, my father knew that, and when he got me my very first motorcycle in 1988, he made sure to arrange a pair of genuine Ray-Ban Aviators to go with it.
Receiving those sunglasses right as I got my first motorcycle marked the beginning of a lifelong love for this iconic brand. My reading glasses have come from all sorts of brands over time, but my sunglasses tell a completely different story: I have only ever owned and worn Ray-Bans.
That original pair came with a classic leather case featuring a belt loop. I wore the glasses everywhere, proudly sliding the leather case onto my belt to show it off whenever I rode.
Over the course of many years, one of the original nose pads eventually broke, but I still keep those original 1988 glasses safely tucked away. They remain deeply precious to me, holding a lifetime of wonderful memories.
Today, I still wear my favorite gold-framed, green-lensed Aviators—a brand-new pair gifted to me by my own children, in the exact same iconic style that my father gave to me a generation ago.
These glasses represent far more than nostalgia; they carry a profound sense of being loved across time—first by my parents, and now by my children. Who knew a single pair of glasses could bridge three generations of love?
